Quality Control

At McArthur Lumber and Post, our focus is on quality.

We purchase only the finest raw materials

• We specify only wood cut from live, sound trees
  • Wood cut after it is dead may have already incurred significant rot damage

We condition all of our wood prior to treatment

• Whether by air- or kiln-drying, we ensure that all of our wood is sufficiently dry before treatment
  • Treating wood that is still "green" results in poor chemical penetration, leaving avenues open to biological attack

We test our wood after treatment

• We have installed an X-ray spectrometer in our laboratory to ensure that our wood meets or exceeds American Wood Preservers' Association standards for chemical retention and penetration
  • Those who don't test are betting your money that they have met AWPA specs and that your wood will be adequately protected
